SYMPHONIE FANTASTIQUE
Robert Hanson, conductor Stewart Goodyear, piano
Daughtery Red Cape TangoLiszt Totentanz Berlioz
Symphonie fantastique Within each of the works on this electrifying program lies the Dies Irae, a haunting melody that has inspired composers for centuries, from thirteenth century sacred works to favorites such as Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique. Stewart Goodyear, a pianist familiar to ESO audiences, joins in with a “fantastique” performance of Liszt’s thrillingly macabre Totentanz.
